Summer is almost here and that means it’s the best time to enjoy the outdoors! What better way to enjoy the outdoors than with Mobo Cruisers. However, before you hit the road, it’s crucial to ensure your Mobo is in top-notch condition. Regular maintenance not only extends the life of your Mobo but also enhances safety and performance, allowing you to fully enjoy these warm summer days. In this blog post, we'll guide you through essential pre-summer Mobo maintenance tips to keep your ride smooth and trouble-free all season long.
Check Tire Alignment:
It is very important to check the alignment of the rear tires before setting off on your journey. Improper alignment of the rear tires can cause premature wear on the tires and possibly lead to getting a flat tire in the middle of your journey. The rear wheels are designed to be unparallel with each other, resembling an inward V shape. There should always be a 1.5 to 2.5 inch difference in the total distance between the back of the rear wheels and the front of the rear wheels. If necessary, the distance can be adjusted by tightening/loosening the screws located on the linkage steering.
Ensure Proper Tire Pressure:
Like all tires, it’s important to ensure proper inflation of the tires. Underinflation can cause damage to the tires while over inflation can raise the risk of tire popping significantly. When possible, use a psi gauge to ensure the tire is inflated to the proper psi labeled on the tires.
New Tires:
If you’ve had your Mobo for a long time or are looking to upgrade your riding experience, consider getting some new tires. We offer replacement tires on our website, but thanks to our use of standard size tires, replacements and upgrades are easy to find online. A personal recommendation of ours is to purchase self-sealing innertubes with a nice set of road tires, both of which can be found at bike shops or online stores.
Secure Bolts:
Its always great to give your Mobo a “once over” to make sure that everything is nice and secure. One of the main parts to come loose is the bolts associated with our linkage bars. After speaking to some of our customers who have had this issue in the past, we found that the cause is simply a misunderstanding about the bolts used. We employ the use of lock nuts, which are nuts that have a ring of hard rubber inside that provides pressure on the bolt and stops it from loosening. Most of our customers assume that the ring is there to stop the bolt from tightening further but that is simply not the case. When tightening the bolts, ensure that you are tightening past the hard rubber ring so that the nut will be properly secure. If all else fails, an application of Loctite is the most surefire way to prevent loosening screws.
With your Mobo now tuned and ready for the summer, you're all set to embark on your cycling adventures with confidence and ease. Regular maintenance is not just about preserving your bike but also about ensuring your safety and enhancing your riding experience. By taking the time to perform these simple checks and adjustments, you can prevent unexpected breakdowns and enjoy the full benefits of cycling during the vibrant summer months. So, gear up, stay safe, and pedal towards countless memorable rides under the sunny skies with Mobo!
